Jazz St. Louis is pleased to announce a memorial concert for Richard McDonnell at Jazz at the Bistro, Sunday, May 25, 2014. McDonnell, who passed away February 8, was a long-time board member of Jazz St. Louis and the owner of the MAXJAZZ record label, based in Webster Groves. This concert will feature a headlining performance by MAXJAZZ artists Terell Stafford, Bruce Barth, Tim Warfield, and Carla Cook, joined by St. Louis’s Montez Coleman and Bob DeBoo,starting at 7:00 PM. Many St. Louis-based artists, including Good 4 the Soul, Jesse Gannon, Cheryl Brown, Funky Butt Brass Band, the Gene Dobbs Bradford Blues Experience, the Phil Dunlap Quintet, and more, will be performing throughout the day, beginning at 1:00 PM, leading up to the headlining set. Brilliant Corners, the first band to record on the MAXJAZZ label, will also be performing. A full schedule will be announced Wednesday. The concerts are general admission, free, and open to the public. A suggested donation of $25 can be made at the door to Jazz St. Louis in honor of Rich McDonnell. |
